2 Migrating from EMS/STM based Solution to WBEM-Based
Solution
To migrate from the EMS & STM based to the WBEM-based hardware diagnostics solution, use
SFM and other WBEM providers. This section includes the following topics:

• “Migrating from EMS/STM based to WBEM-Based Solution” (page 10)
It also describes the prerequisites for migration.
Obtaining SFM and WBEM Providers
SFM and other WBEM providers that are required for migrating to the WBEM-based hardware
diagnostics is available on the OE media for HP-UX 11i v3 systems. Alternatively, you can download
the product bundles for the following products from the Software Depot web page at http://
h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/index.do:
• OnlineDiag
• SysFaultMgmt
• SysMgmtPlus
• ProviderSvcsBase
• SASPROVIDER
• FCPROVIDER

Migrating from EMS/STM based to WBEM-Based Solution
This section describes the prerequisites and procedure for migrating from EMS & STM based to
WBEM-based hardware diagnostics solution.
Prerequisites
Starting with the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2009 release, SFM does not have a prerequisite on
OnlineDiag. Instead, SFM and OnlineDiag have placed a prerequisite on the ProviderSvcsBase
product. As a part of standalone install, ProviderSvcsBase does not install in the following scenarios:
• If the OnlineDiag bundle version that is installed on the system or selected for installation, is
earlier than the version released in March 2009.
• If the SysFaultMgmt bundle version that is installed on the system or selected for installation,
is earlier than the version released in March 2009.
This implies that an install or an upgrade to SFM March 2009 version or later requires an upgrade
of OnlineDiag to March 2009 version or later and vice versa. This is to ensure that both the products
remain fully functional.
Migrating from EMS/STM based to WBEM-Based Environment
Complete the prerequisites mentioned in “Prerequisites” (page 10) and install the WBEM providers
mentioned in the “Obtaining SFM and WBEM Providers” (page 10) section. You do not have to
perform any additional tasks for migrating from EMS & STM based to WBEM-based hardware
diagnostics solution.
