About HP System Management Homepage
HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) is a web-based interface that consolidates and
simplifies single system management for HP servers on HP-UX, Linux, and Windows operating
systems. HP SMH - HP-UX comprises a number of plug-ins that enable users configure, manage,
and troubleshoot HP-UX systems.
NOTE: System Administration Manager (SAM) is deprecated in HP-UX 11i v3. HP System
Management Homepage (HP SMH), an enhanced version of SAM, is introduced for managing
HP-UX. HP SMH provides Graphical User Interface (GUI), Text User Interface (TUI), and
Command-Line Interface (CLI) for managing HP-UX.
The key features of HP SMH include system administration capabilities and the ability to display
detailed information about hardware attributes. HP SMH enables IT administrators to view in-depth
hardware configuration and status data, performance metrics, system thresholds, diagnostics, and
software version control information using a single intuitive interface.
HP SMH integrates with HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM), the strategic platform for multi-systems
management from HP. HP Systems Insight Manager communicates with HP System Management
Homepage to track server health and performance and to maintain up-to-date server inventory
data. The integration also supports group configuration and setup via HP SIM. When used in
conjunction with HP SIM, alerts may be transmitted to appropriate individuals via e-mail or pager
notification. For more information about HP SIM, visit the HP Systems Insight Manager web site at
http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim.
HP System Management Homepage Dependency Matrix
The HP System Management Homepage Dependency Matrix is designed to help users who want
to upgrade by installing any one or more of the SMH plug-ins separately rather than upgrade by
installing the Operating Environment. This document also helps you find out the dependency
information of an SMH plug-in version.
NOTE: The dependency matrices in this document cover only HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) and HP-UX
11i v3 (B.11.31). The “HP-UX WBEM Providers” (page 35) chapter includes information for HP-UX
11i v1.
