HP secure development lifecycle Starting with HP-UX 11i v3 March 2013 update release, HP secure development lifecycle provides the ability to authenticate HP-UX software. Software delivered through this release has been digitally signed using HP's private key. You can now verify the authenticity of the software before installing the products, delivered through this release. To verify the software signatures in signed depot, the following products must be installed on your system: • B.11.31.
1 Features HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) is a web-based interface that consolidates and simplifies single system management for HP servers running the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
Available IP addresses In HP-UX only, when autostart mode is enabled, any access made through port 2301 detects a change in the list of available IP addresses. In previous releases, SMH would only be accessible using the IP addresses defined at system startup. If new IP addresses were defined then SMH would have to be restarted to use them.

Peripheral Devices Configuration (pdweb) HP-UX The pdweb tool lists and manages the OLRAD-capable PCI slots reported by the olrad command and Peripheral Devices reported by the ioscan command. On selecting a slot/device from the list, it displays details about the selected device/slot.

2 Defect fixes in this version HP SMH 3.2.7 release for HP-UX 11.31 (AR1403) The following defects are fixed in the HP SMH 3.2.7 release for HP-UX 11.31: Defect ID Description Network Configuration Tool (NetworkConfig) Version B.11.31.16 QXCR1000935732 In SMH Version A.2.2.9, ncweb incorrectly modifies netconf if INTERFACE_NAME value is not in quotes. QXCR1001261223 The “Local Host File Empty” issue is fixed when Japanese is set as a preferred language in the browser.

QXCR1001176696 When configuring ipnodes in the /etc/nsswitch.conf configuration file through the ncweb TUI, Network Information Service (NIS) is not listed in the nsswitch.conf file.
3 Issues and workarounds HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. Also, see the HP System Management Homepage Installation and Configuration Guide and HP System Management Homepage Online Help for known issues. HP SMH for Windows and Linux • Issue: Java plug-ins are required and must be enabled for displaying some Help pages in HP SMH.
Workaround: The resolution to this issue is to be provided by Apache Software Foundation. However, there are a few of the commands and options available on Windows operating systems to disable or redirect the dump file creation (to a safer location).
Workaround: To resolve the issue, verify whether the system has all the required 32-bit library packages installed, if not, install the missing packages. • Issue: HP SMH becomes inaccessible after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. Description: In addition to HP SMH becoming inaccessible, HP Systems Insight Manager and the HP Version Control Repository Manager also become inaccessible.
NOTE: This error is applicable for Windows x86_64 platform for SMH 6.0 only. Workaround: HP recommends that you use the following procedure to manually downgrade SMH to 6.0: 1. Extract the SMH 6.0 component cp010944.exe to a folder say C:\abc. 2. Navigate to the folder C:\abc in the command prompt. Execute the following command: setup.exe /s /removeonly /f1 C:\abc. This removes the currently installed version of HP SMH. 3. Proceed normally to install the SMH 6.0 using the following exe file: cp010944.exe.
2. 3. 4. Execute the following command to restart the HP SMH service smhconfig -r As a precautionary measure, copy the existing smhpd.xml file into a different directory. Manually add the tag: a. Open the smhpd.xml in the \hp\hpsmh\conf directory on the boot drive with a text editor. b. Add the following line between the and tags: value Note: The value can be 64-512 on Windows systems.

NOTE: Corrected possible information disclosure may be used to obtain the version information of the web server used by HP System Management Homepage. • Support for Firefox web browser version 3 and 3.5. March 2010 release for HP-UX HP SMH 3.1.0 for HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 includes product enhancements and fixes for internally found defects. Following are the product enhancements: • Automated log collection via smhassist.
October 2009 release for HP-UX Defects are fixed in HP SMH 3.0.2.1 for HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3, and HP SMH 2.2.9.3.1 for HP-UX 11i v1. Following are the details: • Changes are made in the Namazu search engine to fix a security vulnerability. This defect fix was earlier (July web release) available only on HP-UX 11i v3.
