Software Package Builder release notes HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2, and HP-UX 11i v3
1 Feature and Change Notification
HP Software Package Builder (SPB) provides a visual method to create and edit software packages
using the HP-UX Software Distributor (SD) package format. Once software is packaged, it can
easily be transferred to a distribution medium, mass produced, and installed by administrators.
The SPB GUI provides a window into the software package structure, showing attributes that
can be set for each package element. SPB dynamically loads packaging policies and validates
software package attributes against these policies. The SPB command line interface (CLI) can
also perform validation of software package attributes against policies and supports automated
edits to the software package specification.
Features
SPB 2.0 provides the following features:
• A GUI for creating product specification files (PSF) in SD format
• A command line interface (CLI) for automating nightly changes to packages
• A policy validator for verifying a package’s use of legal SD syntax
• Ability to view depots and copy and paste information from a depot into a PSF
• Ability to view and edit multiple PSF's
• Ability to run the swpackage command
