1 Feature and Change Notification HP Software Package Builder (SPB) provides a visual method to create and edit software packages using the HP-UX Software Distributor (SD) package format. Once software is packaged, it can easily be transferred to a distribution medium, mass produced, and installed by administrators. The SPB GUI provides a window into the software package structure, showing attributes that can be set for each package element.
Change Notification SPB has been updated to support the following new features and functionality: • • • • • • • Edit multiple Product Specification Files (PSF) at the same time Open and view depot(s) in the SPB GUI Convert a depot into a PSF Validate a depot's content Validate a PSF's content Ability to run the swpackage command Automatic display of the current, active policy rules file This release of SPB has also been updated for defect fixes.
Requirements SPB 2.0 requires Java 1.4.0 or greater. Supported Operating Systems The following Operating Systems are supported by SPB: • • • HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31) Additional requirements are in the Getting Started with Software Package Builder User's Guide 2.0, which can be found at the following web site: http://software.hp.
Compatibility No compatibility issues were identified as of release time.
Performance • • When adding a pre-existing element to a corequisite (or prerequisite) OR Relation Set, the icon should change from yellow to green but fails to do so. Both of the icons remain yellow. The icons correctly change to green upon exiting the dialog and the elements are then displayed in the the main window. Java Swing behavior may cause navigational inconsistencies when running SPB. These inconsistencies can potentially lead to data loss.
Product Structure SPB is a free, customer-selectable ISU, and therefore does not have a product number. SPB PRODUCT: SwPackager Description: Create and edit product specification files (PSF) for use in building software packages that use Software Distributor (SD) format.
