Message Counter
A message counter is persistent in the lower, right-hand corner of the SPB main window. The
counter displays the active PSF’s validation status. The number of errors, warnings, and notes
are displayed. The counter refreshes automatically upon data entry, revalidation, etc.
Policy Help Tab
The Policy Help tab displays detailed information on packaging policy rules used to validate
your PSF. You can use policy help information to assist in resolving validation errors in your
PSF.
Display Policy Help for a Specific Attribute - Select an attribute name from the Attribute
Table and policy help information for the selected attribute displays.
Display Policy Help for a Validation Error - Select a validation error and click the Policy
Help tab for information to aid in error resolution.
Access additional attribute information - Click the SPB Help link from the Policy Help tab
to view additional information from the SPB Help system.
PSF View
The PSF View tab allows you to view portions of the PSF as you build it. The PSF display is
read-only text.
Select a software element from the Package Structure for which you are interested in viewing
the PSF syntax and select the PSF View tab to display the PSF syntax.
Menus
The following is a brief overview of the menu options provided in the SPB GUI:
File Menu - Contains the standard file-related functions.
View Menu - Provides options for changing your view of the Package Structure and filtering
on various attributes.
Structure Menu - Contains commands for adding software elements to the Package Structure.
This menu provides basic editing functions.
Attributes Menu - Contains commands for adding and editing Vendor Defined Attributes.
Tools Menu - Contains options for building a package.
Validation Menu - Contains options for changing the view of the Messages tab and filtering
on the validating message level(s) to display.
Help Menu - Provides access to the help system, tutorial and context-sensitive help.
Tool Bar
The icons displayed in the Toolbar provide shortcuts for some of the most commonly used
commands.
