What is an SWA analyzer?
The analysis functionality of SWA is divided into a set of analyzers. This allows you to control the
scope of the analysis and limit the number of recommended actions.
What are the default analyzers?
If no analyzers are explicitly selected, the QPK (Quality Pack update), PCW (Installed patch with
critical warning) and SEC (security bulletin) analyzers are used.
Can SWA tell me if I have a list of patches on my system?
The PATCH and CHAIN analyzers can be used to see if one or more patches are installable, but
missing. Each analyzer can be specified multiple times to allow large lists to be analyzed. When
a patch is needed, the PATCH analyzer attempts to select the specified patch while the CHAIN
analyzer will provide the HP recommended patch that is, at a minimum, the specified patch.
Can SWA handle patches with dependencies?
The patches and bundles recommended by the SWA Action report will include all dependencies.
Some of these patches may not be required on the system being analyzed. The Detail report will
explicitly list those patches selected as dependencies.
The QPK may include patches with warnings, can SWA help me identify
them?
The Issue or Detail report will identify patches with warnings in QPK bundles selected using the
QPK analyzer. Additional patches to resolve these warnings will also be selected when available.
Patch warnings that are not resolvable by SWA will be identified in the Detail report.
What is the AUTO analyzer I see in my report?
Several checks are not optional and are collectively known as the AUTO analyzer. These checks
include unrecognized patches and missing patch dependencies.
