1 SWA Important Changes Version C.02.95 3/2013 Media Release • The minimum Java revisions were updated to 1.5.0.20.00 for Jre15, 1.6.0.07.00 for Jre60 and 1.7.0.01.00 for Jre70. Version C.02.90 12/2011 Web Release and 3/2012 Media Release • This release includes updates to support the migration of the HP ITRC to the HP Support Center. • The minimum Java revisions were updated to 1.5.0.20.00 for Jre15 and 1.6.0.07.00 for Jre60.
IMPORTANT: SWA C.02.75 supersedes all preceding versions. Older versions are not capable of downloading the HP catalog file and patches from the HP IT Resource Center (ITRC). The swa report, swa get, swa step catalog, and swa step download commands now have two new options: • hp_id - Use this option to specify your ITRC User ID to gain access to the ITRC patch database. • hp_pw - Use this option in conjunction with hp_id to specify your ITRC password.
• You may now select a collection of systems • Support for the concurrent analysis of 100 systems • Support for HP SIM 5.3 Version C.02.11 12/2008 Web Release and 3/2009 Media Release • SWA now allows you to select the analyzers to be used when generating reports within HP SIM • Java™ SE6 is now supported Version C.02.
Version C.01.02 9/2007 Media Release • Added to the HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) Applications media. • Improved the functionality of the swa —? option. This offers context sensitive help on the command line. • ◦ Use swa -? to see which options apply to a specific mode. ◦ Use swa <—option> -? to see a list and description of extended options. ◦ Use swa -x option=-? to get information on the allowable values for an extended option. Improved manpages. Version C.01.
• Provided the ability to download patches and build a Software Distributor (SD-UX) depot which will fix many of the issues in the report. You would also use SWA to see recommended additional actions in the report which you need to take care of manually. • Verified patch integrity automatically (using MD5 cryptographic hash) before unpacking downloaded patches.
2 SWA Known Problems This chapter contains known problems with the HP-UX Software Assistant releases. Version C.02.95 We discovered some issue in Jre70 regarding "Using linker option +noenvvar and +compat". As a temporary workaround, kindly modify swa with “chatr +s enable swa”. This will reenable LD_LIBRARY_PATH, SHLIB_PATH and $ORIGIN. Version C.02.85 When running SWA from HP SIM, the cached Options information written by earlier versions of SWA is not readable by C.02.85.
Version C.02.00 NOTE: This item was fixed in the C.02.26 release. HP SIM 5.2 logs SWA inventory data within SIM memory. SIM can encounter performance issues and ultimately hang when the amount of logged data exceeds the amount of memory configured for the Java Virtual Machine. To work around this issue, select Tasks & Logs→View Task Results... from the HP SIM toolbar and delete all SWA Inventory tasks. If SIM appears to hang when you select Tasks & Logs→View Task Results...
◦ -m Display output in a machine-parsable format. This format contains zero or more recommended-action records in the format: action-name: {field-name:field-text [more-field-text]... }... ◦ -n Suppress warnings about currently installed patches whose state is neither configured nor available. A patch which is not in one of these states is misconfigured and should be fixed. Software Assistant does not detect this type of issue at all.
◦ HTTPS_CA_FILE The fully qualified path to a file containing PEM-encoded CA certificates which will be trusted by security_patch_check. Software Assistant uses Java's cacerts keystore; this cannot be changed. ◦ OPENSSLDIR The directory path containing the openssl and c_rehash binaries. Software Assistant uses Java's internal ssl implementation, so this is not needed.
