large lists to be analyzed. When a patch is needed, the PATCH analyzer attempts to select the specified patch while the CHAIN analyzer will provide the HP recommended patch that is, at a minimum, the specified patch. Q4: Can SWA handle patches with dependencies? A4: The patches and bundles recommended by the SWA Action report will include all dependencies. Some of these patches may not be required on the system being analyzed. The Detail report will explicitly list those patches selected as dependencies.
Q5: What is the HTML report? A5: The HTML report combines the Action, Issue and Detail reports into a single file formatted for viewing within a web browser. The report content includes direct links to ITRC documents for full details such as: security bulletins, patch warnings, patch documentation and bundle contents. Q6: What is detection confidence (DC)? A6: The SEC (security bulletin) analyzer was built to report any bulletin that might be applicable to an HP‐UX system.
Q4: If I don’t have an internet connection can I use SWA? A4: Systems without any internet connections can be analyzed by moving files. Inventory files can be moved to an HP‐UX system with internet access or uploaded to the ITRC Patch Database for analysis. Alternatively, the SWA catalog file can be downloaded on a system with access and transferred to the HP‐UX system using media. Q5: What is the check_crl option for? A5: The catalog file is intended to be downloaded via a secure HTTPS connection.
HP SIM/Multi‐system analysis Q1: How many systems can I analyze with SWA and HP SIM? A1: SWA can only analyze a single system at a time, but supports analyzing remote systems, allowing for multiple systems to be managed from a single instance of SWA. When SWA is used within HP SIM, multiple systems can be analyzed using a single operation with summarized results. The C.02.26 release of SWA supports analysis of 100 systems.
