Compatibility Information
This section provides integration or compatibility information on the following software:
• ClearCase
The integration of SoftBench with ClearCase provides you a familiar interface to the
version control and configuration management functions of ClearCase. You can also
configure the SoftBench Builder to use clearmake, the ClearCase build tool. All other
SoftBench tools work within ClearCase environment using view-extended pathnames.
For more information on the SoftBench and ClearCase integration, refer to Rational’s
ClearCase Reference Manual - Release 3.0 and later, and Rational’s ClearCase User’s
Manual - Release 3.0 and later.
Integrating ClearCase with SoftBench
1. Verify that the ClearCase installation is complete.
2. Verify that the SoftBench 6.x installation is complete.
NOTE By default, SoftBench Builder Program (invoked by choosing the Build
or Rebuild command on the Action menu) runs the make(1) command.
3. Run the clearmake command by setting the following X resource in your .Xdefaults
file (typically, in your home directory):
SoftBench*projBuildProgram: clearmake
4. Update the X resource database using the xrdb -merge $HOME/.Xdefaults
command.
5. Make ClearCase your default configuration management system by performing the
following steps:
a. Start SoftBench.
b. On the Options menu, choose Tool Preferences. This displays the Tool
Preferences dialog box.
c. Under Select a Tool, choose Configuration Management.
d. Under Available Tools, choose ClearCase, and then click OK.
