Installing Windows Client Software Using the
Setup Program
Follow these steps if you are installing the client software on this
computer for the first time.
Step 1. If you are using DOS or Windows, access the Windows Client
Installation software from the appropriate source, and run the Setup
program. (You must first expand the program from the self-extracting file
/opt/sna/w32cli/i_w32cli.exe).
The program displays a Welcome screen; specify a destination directory
into which the files are to be installed.
Step 2. Enter the destination directory.
The program asks you to enter the name of the program folder in which
you wish icons for the SNAplus2 Windows client software to appear.
Step 3. Enter the folder name.
If the System directory already contains .DLL files with names that are
the same as files used by this Setup program but are not SNAplus2 files
(they are files from some other SNA software), the program prompts you
to do one of the following:
a. Copy the SNAplus2 .DLL files over the existing .DLL files
b. Copy the existing .DLL files to a subdirectory of the directory
containing uninstall information (see “Uninstalling the SNAplus2
Windows Client Software”), and then install the SNAplus2 .DLL files.
This option enables a complete uninstall to be done. To ensure the
other .DLL files are not used, the Setup program replaces their file
name extensions with .SAV.
c. Cancel the client software installation.
If the SNAplus2 .DLL files are already present, the Setup program
displays a message indicating this. New .DLL files will overwrite the
existing .DLL files only if the existing files have lower version numbers
than the Setup program .DLL files.
