4 Chapter 4 The terminfo Database 47
The terminfo Database Overview Overview After you have completed the installation, you need to determine whether you must change any information in the terminfo database (especially if non-HP terminals will be used with the SNAplus2 products).
The terminfo Database Altering the terminfo Database Altering the terminfo Database The SNAplus2 products will run on many terminal types, and the /opt/sna/terminfo database tells SNAplus2 how to communicate with them. This is done by using the information in the terminfo entry for each terminal type. NOTE Most terminfo entries provided for HP terminals should need very little altering. However, the entries provided for non-HP terminals may require altering.
The terminfo Database Altering the terminfo Database snaptermfile The snaptermfile has the following format: Current TERM=New TERM:Keyword=Setting:Keyword=Setting:..... Where: Current TERM is the $TERM value you want to change. Current TERM must begin on a new line. New TERM is the $TERM value that you want the SNAplus2 products to use. This is usually hpSNAplus for HP terminals. If New TERM does not exist, then $TERM will not be changed.
The terminfo Database Altering the terminfo Database Setting is the *single character* to set the box characters defined by the previous keyword.
The terminfo Database Altering the terminfo Database The following are hp700/92 terminals with thick line-drawing character set (notice “\:” is last) 70092=hpSNAplus:UR=\Aw:UL=\Aq:BL=\Aa:BR=\As:HB=\A;:LT=\A1:RT=\ A2:SB=\A):EL=D\I:VB=\A\: 70092a=hpSNAplus:UR=\Aw:UL=\Aq:BL=\Aa:BR=\As:HB=\A;:LT=\A1:RT= \A2:SB=\A):EL=D\I:VB=\A\: 70092A=hpSNAplus:UR=\Aw:UL=\Aq:BL=\Aa:BR=\As:HB=\A;:LT=\A1:RT= \A2:SB=\A):EL=D\I:VB=\A\: The following terminals have the HP line-drawing character set and have been tested.

These terminfo entries may not always have line-drawing characters. Use the defaults.
The terminfo Database Altering the terminfo Database Creating a Non-HP Terminal Entry You may need to create entries for some non-HP terminals that are used with the SNAplus2 products. For example, the sequence of codes generated when f1 is pressed on a VT100 terminal may differ slightly, depending on which company manufactured the terminal. If you are using VT100s from different manufacturers, you may need to create a new VT100 terminfo entry for each manufacturer.
The terminfo Database Required and Recommended Functions Required and Recommended Functions In order to use the ASCII interface, your terminal must have certain requirements defined in the HP-UX computer's terminfo database. The two types of functions to be defined in the terminfo database are required and recommended. Terminals without the required functions cannot be used with the menu interface.

6 Online Addition/Replacement (OLAR) of PCI Cards This is an overview of the Online Addition and Replacement functionality of PCI cards on HP-UX systems.
Online Addition/Replacement (OLAR) of PCI Cards on adding or replacing PCI cards, see the Configuring HP-UX for Peripherals manual located on the http://docs.hp.com web site under HP-UX System Administration.
Online Addition/Replacement (OLAR) of PCI Cards OLAR Overview and Concepts OLAR Overview and Concepts The letters O, L, A and R stand for Online Addition [and] Replacement. This term refers to the ability of a PCI I/O card to be replaced (removed and/or added) to an HP-UX computer system designed to support this feature without the need for completely shutting down and re-booting the system or adversely affecting other system components.
Online Addition/Replacement (OLAR) of PCI Cards OLAR Overview and Concepts Table 6-1 Important Terms Term IMPORTANT Meaning OLAR All aspects of the OLAR feature including Online Addition (OLA) and Online Replacement (OLR). Power Domain A grouping of 1 or more interface card slots that are powered on or off as a unit.
Online Addition/Replacement (OLAR) of PCI Cards OLAR Overview and Concepts Planning and Preparation For the most part, SAM prevents you from performing OLAR procedures that would adversly affect other areas of the server. Be sure to read the Planning and Preparation section in the Configuring HP-UX for Peripherials manual. It provides you with important information that can help minimize errors or problems when performing OLAR procedures.
Online Addition/Replacement (OLAR) of PCI Cards OLAR Overview and Concepts Card Compatibility Online Addition (OLA). When adding an interface card, the first issue that must be resolved is whether the new card is compatible with the system. Each OLAR-capable PCI slot provides a set amount of power. The replacement card cannot require more power than is available. The card must also operate at the slot’s bus frequency.
