Compatibility Information and Installation
Requirements
The following sections list the hardware and software requirements for the SNAplus2 Link
product. For the hardware and software requirements for SNAplus2 User Applications, see
the HP-UX SNAplus2 Installation Guide, J2740-90022.
HP 9000 Hardware
SNAplus2 Link requires the following HP 9000 hardware:
An HP 9000 computer system (D, E, F, G, H, I, K, T, R, L, N, V-class or Superdome server,
or B, C, or J-class workstation) Note that Superdome systems require the HP-UX 11i and
later operating system.
18.9 MB of disk space
A physical link to the SNA remote system, such as a pair of compatible modems, a modem
eliminator, or a LAN connection.
A PSI card and available slot if using SDLC. Note that for workstations, an EISA PSI
upgrade kit might also be needed.
A 2-port PCI Eicon card (J3525A) and available slot if using PCI SDLC. Note that PCI
SDLC is supported only on the HP 9000 L, N, V-class and Superdome servers, and the
J-class workstations.
Running SNAplus2 Link in a client/server environment requires additional LAN/9000 Link
hardware components for servers or workstations, including the LAN interface card.
Running SNAplus2 Link using QLLC requires X.25 hardware and software.
Running SNAplus2 Link using Token Ring, 802.3/Ethernet, or FDDI requires hardware for
each link type.
HP 9000 Software
This version of SNAplus2 Link requires the HP-UX 11i operating system and the June 2001
Support Plus Software bundle.
Running SNAplus2 Link in a client/server environment requires additional LAN/9000 Link
software components for servers and workstations, including ARPA/Berkeley Sockets.
Running SNAplus2 Link using QLLC requires X.25 software.
