Benefits Provided by SNAplus2
SNAplus2 provides features and benefits that range from simplifying
configuration and improving problem diagnosis to enhancing network
performance.
Easy Migration
When upgrading an older version of SNAplus2 to Release 6, you can
preserve your present system configuration by using the SNAplus2
migration utilities. The migration utilities support all of the earlier
versions of SNAplus2.
Migration involves converting configuration files from older versions of
SNAplus2 into a format that the current version of SNAplus2 can use.
The migration procedure is described in detail in HP-UX SNAplus2
Upgrade Guide.
Easy Configuration
SNAplus2 is designed with configuration options and administration
facilities that reduce configuration time and network complexity. For
example:
Motif Administration Program
The easiest way to define and modify the SNAplus2
configuration is to use the Motif administration
program (xsnapadmin). This program provides a
graphical user interface from which you can view and
manage SNAplus2 resources. It also simplifies
configuration by exposing only the fields whose values
typically vary from one installation to another, using
default values for other fields.
The Motif administration program includes help
screens that provide overview information for SNA and
SNAplus2, reference information for SNAplus2 dialogs,
and guidance for performing specific tasks.
