NAME

untic - terminfo de-compiler

SYNOPSIS

untic [term][-f ﬁle]

DESCRIPTION

untic translates a terminfo ﬁle from the compiled format into the source format. If the environment

variable TERMINFO is set to a path name,

untic checks for a compiled terminfo description of the ter-

minal under the path speciﬁed by

TERMINFO before checking /usr/share/lib/terminfo

. Other-

wise, only

/usr/share/lib/terminfo

is checked.

Normally

untic uses the terminal type obtained from the

TERM environment variable. With the term

(terminal type) argument, however, the user can specify the terminal type used.

With the ﬁle argument the user can specify the ﬁle used for translation. This option bypasses the use of

the

TERM and TERMINFO environment variables.

untic sends the de-compiled terminfo description result to standard output.
