NAME

lpana - display LP spooler performance analysis information

SYNOPSIS

lpana [-d dest ]

DESCRIPTION

lpana displays LP spooler performance information, which system administrators can use to optimize

the conﬁguration of the entire spooler system.

Options

lpana recognizes one option:

-d dest Choose dest as the printer or the class of printers. If dest is a printer, the perfor-

mance analysis information is displayed for that speciﬁc printer. If dest is a class of

printers, the performance analysis information is displayed for the printers that are

members of the class. By default,

lpana

displays the performance analysis infor-

mation for all printers and/or classes.

lpana examines /var/adm/lp/lpana.log

for the following items:

Wait AV Average waiting time from when job is spooled until start of printing.

Wait SD Standard Deviation for waiting time.

Print AV Average printing time from start to end of job.

Print SD Standard Deviation for printing time.

Bytes AV Average of number of bytes printed per request.

Bytes SD Standard Deviation for number of bytes.

Sum KB Sum of bytes printed for all requests (in kilobytes).

Num of Requests

Total number of requests since logging started.

EXTERNAL INFLUENCES

Environment Variables

LANG determines the language in which messages are displayed.

lpana performs its operation on the local system only.
