v
vpmon(5) vpmon(5)
Name
scan - display system bus resources
Description
The scan command does a scan of the system bus. For each resource on the bus, it prints the hardware
path of the resource, the type of resource, and the name of the partition that owns the resource.
Name
vparinfo - display assigned and unassigned partition resources
Synopsis
vparinfo [partition-name]
Description
The
vparinfo command displays a list of resources that have been assigned to a particular partition or
that are as yet unassigned.
Unassigned resources are displayed when partition-name is unspecified. These unassigned resources
include free local bus adapters as well as resources shared between more than one partition such as
memory controllers and system bus adapters. Other displayed information includes partition names, size of
free memory, and the ranges of free memory.
When partition-name is specified, information about that virtual partition is displayed. This information
includes the amount of memory the partition owns, any explicitly specified memory ranges that have been
assigned to the partition, boot device path, the kernel path, boot options, the state of the autoboot flag, and
whether the partition is marked as static or dynamic. If the partition is active, the information also
includes the memory ranges that were assigned to the partition by
vpmon when the partition was
activated.
VPARS MONITOR MANAGEMENT COMMAND
Name
monadmin - allow GSP nPar administrator to manage vPar security and assign management capability
Synopsis
monadmin [-S on|off]|[-a|-d partition-name]|[
-l]
Description
This command enables the GSP user of an nPar to make the virtual partition environment secure or non-
secure and also to designate one or more virtual partitions to have management capability (Primary-Admin
vPars). A Primary-Admin vPar can create, boot, reset, modify, and remove vPars other than itself. A
Secondary-Admin vPar is restricted to modifying only its own resources and attributes. It cannot create,
boot, reset, modify, or remove another vPar. The
monadmin command may be invoked with one of the
following mutually-exclusive options:
-S on Turn on the secure virtual partition environment and allows the GSP user of an nPar to set a
new virtual partition security password. By default, all existing partitions become Secondary-
Admin vPars.
-S off Turn off the secure virtual partition environment and clear the virtual partition security pass-
word.
The on and off arguments are case-insensitive.
-a partition-name
Add the virtual partition partition-name to the Primary-Admin vPars list in a secure vir-
tual partition environment.
-d partition-name
Delete the virtual partition partition-name from the Primary-Admin vPars list in a secure
virtual partition environment.
-l List all the Primary-Admin vPars in a secure virtual partition environment.
If no arguments are supplied, monadmin displays whether the virtual partition environment is in secure
or nonsecure mode. The -a, -d, and -l options are used only in a secure virtual partition environment.
