NAME

banner - make posters in large letters

SYNOPSIS

banner strings

DESCRIPTION

banner prints its arguments (each up to 10 characters long) in large letters on the standard output.

Each argument is printed on a separate line. Note that multiple-word arguments must be enclosed in

quotes in order to be printed on the same line.

EXAMPLES

Print the message ‘‘Good luck Susan’’ in large letters on the screen:

banner "Good luck" Susan

The words Good luck are displayed on one line, and

Susan is displayed on a second line.

WARNINGS

This command is likely to be withdrawn from X/Open standards. Applications using this command might

not be portable to other vendors’ platforms.
