1.1 Product overview
Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 for HP-UX provides an industry standard centralized directory
service based on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). You can use Red Hat
Directory Server 8.0 to build an intranet or extranet directory service. Your HP-UX servers and
other directory-enabled applications use the directory service as a common, network-accessible
location for storing shared data such as user and group identification, server identification, and
access control information. In addition, you can extend the Red Hat Directory Server to support
your entire enterprise with a global directory service that provides you with centralized
management of all your enterprise's resource information.
Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 is compiled using a 64-bit data model version and is supported
with HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2, and HP-UX 11i v3 on HP 9000 and HP Integrity systems.
1.2 What is new in the Red Hat Directory Server
This release of Red Hat Directory Server provides fixes to known problems introduced in earlier
releases. These bug fixes are documented in Section 2.1 (page 11).enhancements, fixes to several
problems existing in previous releases, and known new problems. This section documents the
enhancements.
The previous release of Red Hat Directory Server (B.08.00.01) provides the following
enhancements:
• Support in the Administration Server for Apache 2.2 in addition to Apache 2.0. For use of
Apache 2.2, Apache B.2.2.8.06 or higher is required.
• Support for configuration of the Red Hat Directory Server in an HP Serviceguard package.
The primary means of providing high availability continues to be the directory server
multi-master replication feature. For information about configuring HP-UX Directory Server
in a Serviceguard package, see the HP Serviceguard documentation, available at the following
