Red Hat Directory Server B.08.00.02 for HP-UX Release Notes and Supplemental Instructions

10. Directory server identifier [hostname]:
Enter a unique identifier for this Directory Server instance. The default is the local hostname
without the domain portion.
NOTE: The Directory Server identifier must not contain a period. For example,
server.example.com is not a valid server identifier name.
11. Suffix:
Enter a distinguished name meaningful to your enterprise. The default is dc=domain_name
12. Directory Manager DN [cn=Directory Manager]:
Enter the distinguished name that you use when managing the contents of your directory.
13. Password:
Establish a password for the Directory Manager. The password must be at least eight
characters long. Enter the same password when the script prompts you to confirm it.
This is the last prompt for the setup-ds.pl script. The setup-ds.pl script starts the
Directory Server daemon and exits.
14. Administration port number [9830]:
Enter a TCP port number that is not in use. Record this value so you can use it to access the
Administration Server for this Directory Server instance.
This prompt is used only for the setup-ds-admin.pl script.
15. Are you ready to set up your servers? [yes]
This prompt is used only for the setup-ds-admin.pl script.
Type yes or press RETURN.
This is the last prompt for the setup-ds-admin.pl script. The setup-ds-admin.pl
script starts the Directory Server and administration server daemons and exits.
4.3 Postconfiguration Tasks
This section describes optional tasks to perform after configuring the Directory Server.
4.3.1 Configuring the Autostart Option
By default, Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 configures the autostart options for the Directory Server
and Administration Server daemons so they automatically start at system startup. If SSL is
enabled for a Directory Server instance, the autostart feature skips that instance because the
daemon prompts for the SSL key password.
For information about SSL, see “Managing SSL” in the Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 Administrator's
Guide.
4.3.1.1 Disabling the Autostart Option
To disable the autostart option for the Directory Server or Administration Server, follow these
steps:
1. To disable the autostart option for the Directory Server, edit the
/etc/rc.config.d/Rhds-ds file and set RHDS_DIRECTORY to 0.
2. To disable the autostart option for the Administration Server, edit the
/etc/rc.config.d/Rhds-adm file and set RHDS_ADMIN to 0.
