Red Hat Directory Server B.08.00.02 for HP-UX Release Notes and Supplemental Instructions
2. Start the setup-ds-admin or setup-ds.pl script. The script displays information about
the setup process.
Answer the following prompts. The script lists the default response in square brackets.
3. Would like to continue with set up? [yes]
Enter yes or press RETURN.
4. Do you agree with the license terms? [no]
Read the /opt/dirsrv/LICENSE.TXT file. If you accept the terms, enter y.
5. Choose a setup type [2]:
Accept the default, option 2 (Typical Installation), to perform a typical setup.
The typical installation is the default and most common setup mode. This mode prompts
you to supply detailed information about the directory service, such as suffix and
configuration directory information, while proceeding quickly through the setup process.
6. Computer name [local_host_fqdn]:
Press RETURN to accept the default value (the fully qualified domain name for the local
host).
The host name is used to generate the Directory Server instance name, the administration
domain, and the base suffix. Ensure that the name resolves to a valid IP address and that
the IP address resolves to this name.
7. System User [www] and the System Group [other]:
Enter the user ID and group under which you want the Directory Server to run. If you run
the setup-ds-admin.pl script, the Administration Server also uses these parameters.
NOTE: If you enter root for the System User name, the Administration Server cannot
start. The Administration Server runs as a component of the Apache server, and the HP-UX
Apache-based Web Server does not allow the Apache server to run with the user ID root.
8. If you are running the setup-ds.pl script, skip this step.
If you are running the setup-ds-admin.pl script, it displays the following prompt:
Do you want to register the software with an existing Configuration
Directory Server?
Enter yes if this is not the first Directory Server instance deployed and you want to register
with an existing Configuration Directory Server. The Configuration Directory Server hosts
the directory tree that contains the configuration data for an administration domain (the
o=NetscapeRoot directory tree) and is the first Directory Server instance configured in
an administration domain.
NOTE: If the server you are installing is not the Configuration Directory Server, a
Configuration Directory Server must be configured and available.
Answer the prompts about the existing Configuration Directory Server as follows:
a. Configuration Directory Server URL [local_ldap_url]:
Specify the URL for the Configuration Directory server. The script forms a default URL
using the local host name.
If the Configuration Directory Server does not use SSL, use the following syntax:
ldap://host:port/o=NetscapeRoot
Where host is the name of the host where the Configuration Directory Server is running
and port is the TCP port number on which it receives connection requests. In most
