a. Configuration directory server administrator ID:
Enter the user name you log in with when you authenticate to the console with full
privileges. The default is admin.
b. Password:
Establish a password for the Configuration Directory Administrator. Enter the same
password when the script prompts you to confirm it.
c. Administration domain:
Enter the Configuration Directory Server DNS domain. The default is the domain
configured for the local host in the /etc/resolv.conf file.
9. Directory server network port[port_num]:
Enter the TCP port number on which you want the Directory Server to receive incoming
requests. If port number 389 is not in use, it will be the default value. TCP port 389 number
is the IANA registered port number for LDAP. To use secure LDAP, enter 636, the IANA
registered port number for secure LDAP. If the IANA port number is already in use, select
an alternate port number.
10. Directory server identifier [hostname]:
Enter a unique identifier for this Directory Server instance. The default is the local hostname
without the domain portion.
NOTE: The Directory Server identifier must not contain a period. For example,
server.example.com is not a valid server identifier name.
11. Suffix:
Enter a distinguished name meaningful to your enterprise. The default is dc=domain_name
12. Directory Manager DN [cn=Directory Manager]:
Enter the distinguished name that you use when managing the contents of your directory.
13. Password:
Establish a password for the Directory Manager. The password must be at least eight
characters long. Enter the same password when the script prompts you to confirm it.
This is the last prompt for the setup-ds.pl script. The setup-ds.pl script starts the
Directory Server daemon and exits.
14. Administration port number [9830]:
Enter a TCP port number that is not in use. Record this value so you can use it to access the
Administration Server for this Directory Server instance.
This prompt is used only for the setup-ds-admin.pl script.
15. Are you ready to set up your servers? [yes]
This prompt is used only for the setup-ds-admin.pl script.
Type yes or press RETURN.
This is the last prompt for the setup-ds-admin.pl script. The setup-ds-admin.pl
script starts the Directory Server and administration server daemons and exits.
