Additional Software Requirements
This section lists additional software modules required for Red Hat Directory Server 8.0. It
addresses the following topics:
“HP-UX Apache-based Web Server (page 19)
“Java Runtime Environment” (page 19)
“Perl” (page 20)
“Requirements for Specific Features” (page 20)
HP-UX Apache-based Web Server
The Administration Server requires Apache Web Server version v2.0 for operation. HP has tested
the Red Hat Administration Server included with Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 with the HP-UX
Apache-based Web Server version B.2.0.50.01, and HP recommends that you use this version or
later. However, HP does not support the following Apache Web Server versions with the
Administration Server:
B.2.0.59.00 (this version contains a known compatibility problem)
B.2.1 and later
To verify the HP-UX Apache web server software version, use the swlist utility. For example:
swlist -l product | grep hpuxwsAPACHE
hpuxwsApache B.2.0.55.01 HP-UX Apache-based Web Server
The HP-UX Apache-based Web Server is available for download at:
http://www.hp.com/go/softwaredepot
In the Search field enter HP-UX Apache-based Web Server.
NSPR Compatibility Problem on HP-UX 11i v1 Systems
The HP-UX 11i v1 version of the HP-UX Apache-based Web Server bundle includes a version
of Netscape Portable Runtime (NSPR) that is not compatible with the Red Hat Administration
Server.
If you are using the Red Hat Administration Server on an HP-UX 11i v1 system, move the Apache
NSPR library files to an alternate location.
For example:
# cd /opt/hpws/apache/lib
# mkdir nspr_saved
# mv libnspr4.sl libplc4.sl libplds4.sl nspr_saved/
# mv libfreebl_hybrid_3.sl libfreebl_pure32_3.sl nspr_saved/
Java Runtime Environment
The Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 Administration Console uses the Java® runtime environment
(JRE). The JRE is not bundled with Red Hat Directory Server 8.0. You must install it before or at
the same time you install Red Hat Directory Server 8.0.
HP has tested Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 with JRE version 1.5.0.11. Later versions of JRE 1.5
may also work. The Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 depot is built with a dependency on JRE version
1.5.0.11 or later, which is marked as an SD corequisite in the product package.
