HP PRM Version C.03.02.xx Release Notes for HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2, and HP-UX 11i v3
PRM Release Notes
What’s new in this version
Chapter 1 7
• prmloadconf user records
Previously, prmloadconf would generate user records placing nonroot users in the group
OTHERS. These records now use the placeholder “(NONE)” instead. PRM then moves the
processes to PRM groups based on its placement rules. (The processes of root users are
placed in the PRM_SYS group—unless you have created a user record to place them in
another group.)
• Hyper-Threading support for PSET PRM groups
The logical CPU (Hyper-Threading) feature, available starting with HP-UX 11i v3
(B.11.31), is available for PSET PRM groups.
Hyper-Threading enables you to use multiple execution threads per core. Each execution
thread is a logical CPU.
In the configuration file, this feature is enabled through the PSET_ATTR field in a PSET’s
group record. For information on enabling the feature in PRM’s SMH interface, see the
online help.
PRM sets Hyper-Threading for the default PSET, where FSS PRM groups are created, to
optimize workload performance.
• Logging of configuration changes in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
Changes in configurations are now logged to syslog, providing a history of the changes.
• New default location for configurations
The default location for PRM configurations is now /etc/opt/prm/conf/. Set the owner of
files in this directory to hpsmh.
The default location was previously /opt/prm/conf/.
• prmmonitor MRG output
The prmmonitor MRG output now includes a “MB Max” column to indicate the maximum
number of megabytes of memory that a PRM group can access.
For more information, see the prmmonitor(1) manpage.
• xprm interface is being deprecated
With the implementation of the new graphical interface mentioned above, the xprm
interface has been deprecated. It will be removed in a future PRM release.
• Certificates for xprm no longer created on install
Installing PRM no longer creates the following /var/opt/prm/ files: prmrmi.properties,
prmrmi.keystore, prmrmi.cert, and prmrmi.truststore.
To create these files, use the xprm_keytool utility.
