What’s in this version
PRM Version C.03.01 includes the following new features or changes:
• Management of shared memory
Previously, PRM allowed you to manage only private memory. With PRM C.03.01 on
HP-UX 11i v2, you can also manage shared memory. A new record type (#!SHARED_MEM)
was introduced for this feature. For information on the new syntax, see the prmconf(4)
manpage or the online help.
xprm, prmmonitor MEM, and prmmonitor MRG have been modified to support configuring
and monitoring shared memory.
• Integration with virtual machines
You can use PRM to manage resources inside HP Integrity Virtual Machines.
• Greater flexibility in wildcarding
Previously, if you used wildcards in a filename in an application record, you could not use
alternate names in that record. Now, you can have alternate names in that case. You can
even use wildcards when specifying those alternate names.
• User-space memory manager prm0d has been removed
The obsolete prm0d memory manager has been removed. The more robust prm2d memory
manager is now the only memory manager.
