PRM Release Notes
Known problems and workarounds
Chapter 1 7
Deadlock when starting via RC scripts
Issue A MRG memory contention deadlock may occur at boot time if:
• PRM is started via an RC script (/etc/rc.config.d/prm) and is configured
with MRG memory records
• Other applications, such as databases, started via RC scripts have
real-time priority or higher priority than the PRM daemons and
consume most of the free memory
Workaround To avoid this deadlock, PRM’s /etc/rc.config.d/prm file now provides the
following variable:
PRM_SLEEP=seconds
This variable allows you to specify sleep time, which may be needed after
PRM configuration (to allow PRM daemons to stabilize) when large memory
consumers are started immediately after PRM is configured.
Application hangs in FSS group with capping enabled
Issue
On HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23), an application inside an FSS group may hang
when running in a single-processor virtual partition, nPartition, or system if
CPU capping is enabled.
Workaround
Install patch PHKL_33052.
xprm cannot edit invalid configuration files
Issue
xprm cannot edit invalid configuration files.
Workaround
Use prmconfig -s to locate problems in the file. Fix the file in a text editor.
