HP PRM Version C.03.00 Release Notes for HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2
PRM Release Notes
Known problems and workarounds
Chapter 16
• To make memory management more robust, the following changes have been made:
— PRM_SYS is now able to import memory
— OTHERS must always be able to export (You cannot set EXPORT for OTHERS to 0.)
• PRM no longer includes its own JRE on HP-UX 11i v1
Previously, this was true only for HP-UX 11i v2.
PRM now relies on the JRE installed at /opt/java1.4/jre/bin/java, which must be
version 1.4.2 or later.
• The revision of the PRM-Sw-Krn.PRM-KRN fileset has changed to C.01.03. As a result,
installing PRM C.03.00 will require a reboot.
•The prm0d memory manager will be obsoleted in a release in the near future. At that
point, PRM will still accept your memory records, but fields that pertain only to prm0d will
be silently ignored.
Known problems and workarounds
This section discusses problems and workarounds for HP PRM Version C.03.00.
Turning on PRM memory controls when little memory is available
can hang a system
Issue
Loading a PRM configuration that has memory records on a system with all
available memory already locked down by applications or with the majority
of the jobs paging or swapped out can prevent the proper initialization of the
prm2d memory daemon, which can potentially hang the system.
Workaround
Ensure your system is not memory-bound before or immediately after you
load a PRM configuration that has memory records.
