What’s in This Version
HP-MPI is a high-performance implementation of the Message Passing Interface standard.
HP-MPI complies fully with the MPI-1.2 standard and provides MPI-2 one-sided functionality.
HP-MPI provides an application programming interface and software libraries to support
parallel, message-passing applications that are efficient, portable, and flexible.
HP-MPI uses shared libraries. Therefore, HP-MPI must be installed on all machines in the
same directory or be accessible via shared file system.
NOTE The default directory location for HP-MPI for Windows 64-bit is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP-MPI
Platforms supported
HP-MPI V1.1 for Windows is supported on the following hardware running Microsoft
Windows Compute Cluster Pack, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP Professional. An
active directory domain is required to run HP-MPI.
• HP Cluster Platform 3000, and 4000
• HP ProLiant BL20p, BL25p, BL30p, BL35p, DL140, DL145, DL360, DL380, DL385,
DL460C, DL480C, and DL585
NOTE HP-MPI strives to be compiler neutral. HP-MPI V1.1 for Windows systems was
tested with the Intel Fortran 9.1, Visual Studio 2005 C, Portland PGI C, and
Fortran 6.1 compilers. Other compilers can be used as well, if the Fortran
calling convention is C by reference. HP-MPI does not support the Compaq
Visual Fortran (CVF) default calling convention.
Directory structure
All HP-MPI for Windows files are stored in the directory specified at install time (default:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP-MPI). The directory structure is organized
as described in Table 1.
