1 Announcement This document describes features, limitations, and known issues of the HP Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Multiplexer (MUX) product. The AD278A/AD279A PCI MUX product is compliant with Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) standard. The AD278A/AD279A PCI MUX is a high-speed serial communication multiple-port product.
Known problems The pmux_diag/pmux_stty loop back test might not respond, if a terminal is connected to a pci_mux1 port and the pmux_diag/pmux_stty loop back test is run from that terminal on the same pci_mux1 port. Workaround HP recommends customers not to run the pmux_diag/pmux_stty loop back tests on a pci_mux1 port if the pmux_diag/pmux_stty is running on a terminal, which uses the same pci_mux1 port. Limitations Table 1 lists the slot limitations of AD278A PCI MUX 8-port adapter.

QXCR1001194090 In pci_mux1, ch_callin/ch_callout may become negative. This is resolved in the current release. QXCR1001194093 If lock mismatch in delayed, hangup may cause pci_mux1 ports to hang. This is resolved in the current release. QXCR1001194100 The MTNOACTIVITY timer is in seconds instead of minutes.
Software requirements The AD278A/AD279A PCI MUX serial adapters are supported on HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11), HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23), and HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31) operating systems. Disk space requirement The disk space required is 1.5 MB. Installation information Consider the following while installing the AD278A/AD279A PCI MUX product: • Install the AD278A/AD279A PCI MUX hardware when the system is down.
Localization The AD278A/AD279A PCI MUX software and documentation are not localized in non-English languages.
