This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11i v2 (January 2011) release of the Support Tools Manager
(STM).
Overview
The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system,
enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.
STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware
Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.
Pre-requisites
Following is the software pre-requisite for installing Diagnostics and Support Tools:
• EMS version A.04.20.23 or later
Note: The requirements are available on the Operating Environment (OE) media.
Defect Fixes
The following defects are fixed for the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2009 release and is supported on
both HP Integrity and HP 9000 systems:
• QXCR1001038436
EMSHw: disk_em keeps restarting after dying with SIGSEGV. disk_em aborting at startup due
to heap corruption. This issue is now fixed.
Known Problems
Following is the known problems and workarounds for the HP-UX 11i v2 January 2011 release:
• Known Problem:
Starting with HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release of Online Diagnostics, the format of the contents
in the System Activity Log file is enhanced. As a result, the System Activity Log file from an
earlier release of Online Diagnostics may not be supported.
