Release Notes for EMS Hardware Monitors on HP-UX 11.11 (February 2011)

By default, events with severity levels MAJOR WARNING, MINOR WARNING,
SERIOUS, or CRITICAL that are generated by the monitors are notified in the
following ways:
Written to /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
Sent to the superuser's E-mail address.
All events generated by all the monitors are stored in the
/var/opt/resmon/log/event.log file.
To configure, enable, or disable hardware event monitoring, run the
/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig monitoring request manager.
The Peripheral Status Monitor (PSM) and the Kernel Resource Monitor (krmond) are
configured differently. They use the EMS GUI. For more information, see: http://

Known Problems
Problem: rp4440 systems were reporting ia64_corehw event #104011 "Power
Unit : Redundancy lost or not present.". These are incorrect messages as no
hardware fault exist on any of the servers.
Problem Description: The ia64_corehw monitor when making a
GET_SENSOR_READING IPMI call on sensor 0xCF is returning reading of
0x02. This is resulting in generating reminder events of event #104011
(redundancy in power), although there seems to be no problem in the power
units.
Workaround: Remove the
/var/stm/logs/monitor/remindersel.dat.This should be done after
the problem which triggered the event in the first place that has been resolved.
