To check if the monitor has a device to monitor, complete the following steps:
1. Enter the following command to check if the monitor has a device to monitor:
# /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/moncheck
A list of monitors and the devices they are monitoring is displayed.
2. If the monitor does not have any device to monitor, the monitor must stop running. This behavior
is correct, and no further action is required.
3. If the monitor has a device to monitor, contact HP support personnel.
Problem
CPU usage for a monitor is high.
Cause 1
A monitor might be processing errors on a device.
Solution
1. Check for events generated by the monitor.
2. Run Logtool, and check for errors from the device type. If the number of Logtool entries is high,
the high CPU usage is normal.
3. Take appropriate action on the faulty device.
Cause 2
The OnlineDiag bundle might not be installed properly.
Solution
To check if the OnlineDiag bundle is installed properly, complete the following steps:
1. Verify the installation of the product. For information on how to verify the installation, see
“Verifying the Installation” (page 21).
2. If the OnlineDiag bundle is not installed properly, install the OnlineDiag bundle again.
For information on how to install the bundle, see “Installing the Software from the Media
(page 19).
Cause 3
The firmware, monitor, or operating system might contain defects.
Solution
Contact HP support personnel.
Problem
The ia64_corehw or fpl_em monitors report stale entries.
Cause
The required fix is not available on your system.
Solution
To obtain the fix, complete the following steps:
1. Update to a supported version of OnlineDiag.

2. Install the latest patches required. For a list of required patches, see Patch Descriptions at:

3. If the problem persists, contact HP support personnel.
