HP-UX linker and dynamic loader provide linking and loading behaviors found widely across

the Unix industry (SVR4 (System V Release 4) standards). The linker toolset uses the ELF

(executable and linking file format) object file format on Itanium-based systems and PA64

systems, and the SOM (System Object Module) file format on PA32 systems.
