— For HPDPS, the common printer model directories LIPS3.asx, LIPS4.asx and PS.asx are provided
for future new printer support. The user can copy these sample printer model directories to a
directory under /var/opt/pd/lib/model with an appropriate name and customize it for the printer
being configured. This feature is not available for 11i Version 1.5.
— The Mainframe codeset conversions are provided to convert codesets between Mainframe codesets
(Hitachi KEIS, NEC JIPS, Fujitsu JEF, and IBM EBCDIC) and existing codesets (SJIS, eucJP, and
ucs2). These code conversions are used by iconv(1) and iconv(3C). This feature is not available for
11i Version 1.5.

— keis7k: KEIS78 (Hitachi MF codeset based on JIS C6226-1978) + EBCDIK
— keis8k: KEIS83 (Hitachi MF codeset based on JIS X0208-1983) + EBCDIK

a. By installing optional Japanese Font DIMM on these printers, users can print Japanese text with
TrueType fonts. To use Japanese TrueType fonts, configure a printer with the PCL5.asian model
file for the lp Spooler. To determine if Japanese TrueType Font is installed:
1. Press
Menu on the control panel of the printer until “INFORMATION MENU” appears.
2. Press
Item until “PRINT PCL FONT LIST” appears.
3. Press
Select to print the font list.
4. If the printer has Japanese TrueType font, “MS Mincho” and “MS Gothic” will be in the printed
list.
b. Printing text files on expanded A3 (called “A3-Nobi” in Japan) paper is not supported.
c. There are restrictions on setting page lengths in ESC/P mode. For details, see the printer manual
and the online document /usr/share/doc/PRINTER-JPN-S[E].
