vpmon.5 (2011 03)

v
vpmon(5) vpmon(5)
restricted to modifying only its own resources and attributes. A non Designated-Admin vPar cannot
create, boot, reset, modify, or remove another vPar. The
monadmin command may be invoked with one
of the following mutually-exclusive options:
-S on Enables the virtual partition flexible administrative capability and allows the MP user of an
nPartition to set a new virtual partition flexible administrative password. By default, all exist-
ing partitions are not Designated-Admin vPars.
-S off Disables the virtual partition flexible administrative capability and clears the virtual partition
flexible administrative password and the Designated-Admin vPars list. By default, all existing
partitions are Designated-Admin vPars.
The
on and off arguments are case-insensitive.
-a vpar_name
Specifies the name of the existing virtual partition which is to be added to the Designated-
Admin vPars list. The virtual partition name is added to the list when the virtual partition
flexible administrative capability is enabled.
-d vpar_name
Specifies the name of the existing virtual partition which is to be deleted from the Designated-
Admin vPars list. The virtual partition name is deleted from the list when the virtual parti-
tion flexible administrative capability is enabled.
-l List all the Designated-Admin vPars.
If no arguments are supplied,
monadmin displays whether the virtual partition flexible administrative
capability is enabled or disabled. The -a, -d, and -l options are used only when the virtual partition
flexible administrative capability is enabled.
mon_bootpath [hw_path ]|[-p|-h|-a hw_path ]|[
-d]
The
mon_bootpath command adds a new boot path or updates the existing boot path for vPars monitor
in the hard partition EFI Boot Manager menu. Use this command to set the Primary boot path or HA
Alternate boot path or the Alternate boot path for the vPars monitor in the EFI Boot Manager menu.
When options are not specified, the mon_bootpath command displays the current values of the Pri-
mary, HA Alternate, and Alternate boot path for vPars monitor.
The hw_path must be a valid hardware path format (see ioscan (1M) for the correct format) and a valid
EFI device path mapping must exist for the hardware path in the vPars database. Refer vparefiutil (1M)
for additional information on HP-UX hardware path to EFI path mappings.
The
mon_bootpath command may be invoked with one of the following mutually-exclusive options:
-p hw_path Set the primary boot path for vPars monitor to hw_path . It allows putting the
vPars monitor boot path at the beginning of the EFI Boot Manager menu. On next
boot this allows an unattended boot of vPars monitor to take place from the changed
boot path.
-h hw_path Set the High Availability alternate boot path for vPars monitor to hw_path .
-a hw_path Set the alternate boot path for vPars monitor to hw_path .
-d Display the default boot path from which the vPars monitor will be booted.
hw_path With no options and hw_path as an argument, the
mon_bootpath command will
set the boot path for vPars monitor to hw_path .
Note: The boot path entry will be placed at the end of the EFI boot manager menu.
This is to support the legacy behavior of the
mon_bootpath command.
When arguments are not provided, the
mon_bootpath command displays the current values of the Pri-
mary, HA Alternate, and Alternate boot paths for vPars monitor.
Note: The
parmodify and parstatus commands update and display the boot path entries with
the description HP-UX Boot in the hard partition EFI Boot Manager menu, while the
mon_bootpath command updates or displays the boot path entries with the description vPars
Monitor boot path. The last command executed, that is, either parmodify or mon_bootpath
command, succeeds in setting the boot path entries at the appropriate position in the EFI Boot
Manager menu.
