RETURN VALUE
The vparreset command exits with one of the following values:
0 Successful completion.
1 One or more error conditions occurred.
WARNINGS
The
-h option causes an abrupt system shutdown and no operating system crash dump is saved. Refer to
the -h option explanation for more information.
EXAMPLES
Perform a TOC reset on the virtual partition called
Oslo:
vparreset -f -p Oslo -t
Perform a hard (RS) reset on the virtual partition called Bergen:
vparreset -f -p Bergen -h
ERRORS
OA syslog contains additional description of errors encountered during partition operations. Users can
view the OA syslog from the OA using "SHOW SYSLOG OA" command.
"Error: System unable to accept partition commands"
The above error message is printed out under the following circumstances:
• Attempting to run command from an OA other than the active OA in enclosure 1
• System has been shut down (e.g. with POWEROFF XFABRIC, or ambient overtemp)
• The OA has not finished initializing.
In the above scenarios, please ensure the system and OA are completely up and you are running the com-
mand from the active OA in enclosure 1.
vparreset displays error messages on standard error for any of the following conditions:
• A required option is omitted.
• An unknown option is specified.
• A value is omitted for an argument that requires one, or a value is specified for an argument which
does not take one.
• vpar_id does not exist in the current virtual partition database, or is in the wrong run-state.
• npar_id does not exist.
• Both the
-h and -t options are specified.
• The partition from where the command was invoked did not have sufficient
parperm privileges.
