Platform Support Remarks
This
vparremove describes functionality on systems with Onboard Administrator (OA) based par-
tition management. For vparremove on systems not running OA based partition management,
refer to vparremove1 (1M) by typing man vparremove1
.
DESCRIPTION
The
vparremove command deletes a virtual partition previously created using the
vparcreate com-
mand. All resources associated with the virtual partition are made available for allocation to other vir-
tual partitions upon successful completion.
Unintentional use of this command has serious consequences; therefore the user is required to confirm
the operation with the
-f (force) option.
Options and Arguments
vparremove recognizes the following command line options and arguments:
-f Specifies the force option. Required.
-p vpar_id Specifies the virtual partition to be removed. vpar_id can be specified either as a number
or name. Required.
When invoked from the OS, the command deletes the specified virtual partition from the
local nPartition.
When invoked from the OA, the vpar_id should be specified using the format
npar_id
:vpar_id or used along with the -N option. When specified in the
npar_id :vpar_id format, npar_id and vpar_id can either be a number or name. The
command deletes the specified virtual partition from the specified nPartition.
-N npar_id Specifies the nPartition to which the virtual partition belongs. npar_id can be specified
either as a number or a name. This option is mandatory for the command invoked from
OA.
-Z parspec Specifies partition specification (parspec) file of the nPartition from which the virtual par-
tition has to be removed. When this option is specified, all other command options are
applied to the specified parspec and not to any partition.
The
-N and -Z options are mutually exclusive.
SECURITY RESTRICTIONS
When invoked from the OS, this command is restricted to processes owned by superuser having appropri-
ate
parperm privilege. An OA user with operator privilege level or above can remove virtual partitions
from the OA.

vparremove command exits with one of the following values:
