NAME
vpardbprofile - display, update, or delete virtual partition DB-Profiles
SYNOPSIS
vpardbprofile
[[-D db_file ] -d name [-s server_ip ][
-c client_ip ][-g gateway_ip ]
[
-m subnet_mask ][-b boot_file][
-o optional_data]] | [
-r name]|[-h]
Platform Support Remarks
vpardbprofile
is not supported on systems with Onboard Administrator (OA) based partition
management.
DESCRIPTION
The
vpardbprofile
command displays the DB-Profiles that are stored in the virtual partition data-
base. If the virtual partition database is not specified, then the live database, or by default
/stand/vpdb, is used. The vpardbprofile
command with the -d option, a non-existent DB-Profile
name, and another option (such as,
-s -c
, -g, ??), will create a new DB-Profile. The command with
the
-d option, a valid DB-Profile name, and another option (such as,
-s -c, -g,
??), will modify that
option for the specified DB-Profile. The behavior without any options is to display the currently defined
virtual partition DB-Profiles. The purpose of the DB-Profile is to provide a container for holding user
specified settings for DirectBoot. DB-Profiles can be used with the
vparboot command to pass in user
specified DirectBoot settings. Refer to the vparboot (1M) manpage
This command is not supported on PA-RISC systems.
Options and Arguments
vpardbprofile recognizes the following command line options and arguments:
-D db_file Specifies the alternate database from which the virtual partition DB-Profiles is to be
displayed, updated, or deleted. /stand/vpdb or live vpdb is the default if this is
not specified.
-d name Display/create/modify a DB-Profile. A DB-Profile name can be at most 12 charac-
ters long, and spaces are not allowed. If the DB-Profile name already exists, it will
be updated with the new values passed as arguments to this command.
-s server_ip Specifies the static IP address for the boot server
-c client_ip Specifies the static IP address for the client. If the client IP information is missing
in the DB-Profile, DHCP will be used by default.
-g gateway_ip Specifies the static IP address for the gateway
-m subnet_mask Specifies the subnet mask for the local network
-b boot_file Specifies the absolute path to a bootable file on the boot server. If empty, then it
will be assumed that the server controls the boot file for the client.
-o optional_data Specifies the optional command line arguments to pass to the boot file
-r name Deletes DB-Profile from the database.
-h or ? Displays the vpardbprofile usage.
Note
All IP addresses must be in IPv4 format. If the client IP address is not passed, then a DHCP server will
be used to get the client information.
RETURN VALUE
vpardbprofile returns the following values:
0 Successful completion.
1 Error condition occurred.
EXAMPLES
