srp.1m (2011 09)

SRP(1M) SRP(1M)
- The type of container to create or manipulate.
- The services provided by the template.
These services are allowed with the -services option. The template also specifies the default ser-
vices, and the services it requires for the srp command to create a container.
- The required and optional variables needed to add or replace each service the template provides.
Information about template variables is provided in the
TEMPLATES section below.
-v, -verbose
Instruct the srp command to print verbose messages
-xfile filename
Specify the exchange file path name for import or export operations. The exchange file is created by
-export operation and read by -import operation. The file is formatted as a tar (1) archive file and
it’s contents may be listed or extracted with the tar command.
-xml, -xmloutput
Display output of the list and status operations in
XML format.
TEMPLATES
Variables
Variables are defined for the services within each template. If you are unsure of which variables to use for
the desired operation, you can:
allow srp to prompt for the variables
run srp -help, optionally specifying the template and or service(s) of interest
reference the man pages for templates of interest
The most commonly used variables are listed below:
ip_address
IP address to dedicate to this HP-UX container. Use dotted-decimal notation for an
IPv4 address and colon-hexadecimal notation for an IPv6 address.
iface Primary or secondary network interface name
admin_user Comma separated list of existing Unix user names to be granted the RBAC adminis-
trator role for the container.
login_group Comma separated list of existing Unix group names allowed to login to the con-
tainer.
login_user Comma separated list of existing Unix user names allowed to login to the container.
The following forms may be used to assign values to a variable:
name=value
name=’value
name=‘‘value’’
SYSTEM, WORKLOAD, and HP9000 TEMPLATES
One of these templates must be specified when creating a container. Each of these templates directs srp
to provision a container using the services and variables described below.
For example a system container is created using the system template:
srp -add containerName -t system
A workload container is created with the workload template:
srp -add containerName -t workload
The user may specify which container service to manipulate with the -service option of the srp com-
mand.
The following services are required when a container is created: admin, cmpt, init, network.
In addition to the required services the following services are also available: ipfilter, ipsec, login
(workload only), prm, provision (system only).
By default, the following services are specified for a container when it is created: admin, cmpt, init,
login (workload only), network, prm, provision (system only).
