DESCRIPTION
The srp command is used to create and manage HP-UX containers, which provide isolated execution
environments for applications. HP-UX Containers allows you to deploy multiple isolated container-based
environments on a single server platform. HP-UX Containers share a single operating system kernel, glo-
bal server administrative domain, and are configurable to either isolate or share system hardware and
software resources.
See container (5) for information about container types and how they may be configured.
When creating a container, the template option (-template) is used to specify the container’s type and to
direct how changes will be applied to the system. Each template is comprised of a number of services,
and each service is comprised of a number of template variables. Template variables may be specified on
the command line, or srp will prompt for them in interactive mode (see -batch option below). The user
must specify values for template variables that do not have a default value, and may override the default
values for other template variables.
OPTIONS
-a, -add container_name
Create an HP-UX container or add additional service configuration for an existing container. If no
template is specified, srp will apply the workload template. If no service is specified, srp will apply
the default services specified in the template. To control the default services, see srp_setup(1M).
-b, -batch
Run srp in batch mode. srp will not prompt for arguments or template variable values. If srp
encounters an unassigned variable that does not have a default, it will exit with an error.
-d, -delete container_name
Delete all or part of the system configuration for the specified container. If no template is specified,
configuration for all templates will be removed. If no service is specified, srp will remove all
configuration changes previously applied for this container for the specified template.
-export container_name
Export configuration for the specified container to the tar (1) formatted exchange file.
-h, -help
Provide help operation for the srp command. If a template is specified via the -t option, help informa-
tion for services and variables for the specified template are listed. If no service is specified, the
default services are listed.
-i, -id instance
Identify the instance of a template service. Currently only supported by the network service in the
system and workload templates, and the services in the custom template. These services allow
