SYNOPSIS
sig_named [kill|restart]
DESCRIPTION
sig_named sends the appropriate signal to the domain name server
/usr/sbin/named
. The process

/var/run/named.pid
or from the
ps command (see ps(1)) if
/var/run/named.pid
does not exist.
Operands
sig_named recognizes the following operands:
kill Kill the name server process.
restart Signal the name server to reload its database.
Previous Functionality
The
sig_named command shipped with earlier versions of BIND was used to dump the database, to set
debug levels, and to obtain named statistics. You can use the
rndc utility for that purpose instead. See
rndc(1).
