failure_usage
field is used by system firmware when an nPartition is booted. If a failure
happens during the I/O bay activation, then this flag is used by the system
firmware to determine whether or not and how the I/O bay should be
integrated into the nPartition at boot time. The valid failure_usage values for
I/O bay are:
ri Specifies to integrate the I/O bay as it would normally be
integrated. This is the default.
deconfig reactivate the nPartition with the I/O bay excluded from activa-
tion.
-p nPartition_id Specifies the number or name for the nPartition to be created.
If
-p number is specified, the specified number is used as the nPartition number for
the nPartition. If
-p number is not specified, an nPartition number is automatically
assigned to the created nPartition. Valid partition numbers range from 1-255.
If
-p name is specified, the specified name is used as the name for the nPartition to
be created. Note that the user can also use the
-P option to specify the name of the
nPartition. Attempts to specify the nPartition name using both
-p and -P options
in the same command line will be considered invalid. An nPartition name should at
least have one of the following non-numeric character a-z, A-Z, dash (
-), under-
score (_), or period (.). No other non-numeric character is allowed in an nPartition
name. The nPartition name should not start with a dash (
-). An nPartition name
with the same format as the default name can only be specified if the specified name
matches the nPartition number. If name is not specified either through the
-p or
-P options, a default name of the format nParNNNN is given to the nPartition
(where NNNN is a 4 digit nPartition number).
-B Specifies that the new nPartition be booted. The nPartition is booted till the EFI
prompt. The default is not to boot.
-C parspec_name[:create_partition_flag]
Creates only a partition specification. The partition specification specified becomes
the current partition specification if an nPartition is also requested to be created.
parspec_name
specifies the name of the partition specification to be created.
create_partition_flag
specifies whether the corresponding nPartition itself is created. The valid
values for create_partition_flag are:
y the corresponding nPartition is created.
n the corresponding nPartition does not get created. This is the default.
Note:
-C and -Z options are mutually exclusive.
-G memory_granularity_type:size
Specifies the memory granularity (ILM or SLM) in megabytes (MB) for the nParti-
tion. The default memory granularity value would depend on the operating system
type specified by the user through the -O option.
-L slm_value Used with the -a and -c options to specify the amount of the memory that will be
used as Socket Local Memory (SLM) per blade.
Use of the
-L option without either the -a or -c option results in no action being
taken.
However, any slm_value specified using the
-a or -c options overrides the -L
option.
Please refer to the explanation of the
-a or -c option for details of the slm_value
formats.
The default memory settings would depend on the operating system type specified
by the user through the
-O option.
