nwmgr -h [-g|-s|
-r|-a|-d|--diag|--cra] -S apa [-v]
Remarks
The
lanadmin, lanscan, and linkloop commands are deprecated. These commands will be
removed in a future HP-UX release. HP recommends the use of replacement command
nwmgr to per-
form all network interface-related tasks.
DESCRIPTION
The
nwmgr program is the unified command to administer all LAN and RDMA-based interfaces of HP-
UX. You can find general information about the command in the nwmgr(1M) manpage. This manpage
describes
nwmgr as applied to the APA interfaces.
The subsystem name for APA interfaces is
apa. APA interfaces include link aggregates and failover
groups configured in the system.
The commands described here are for interactive administration of HP-UX APA interfaces.
The
nwmgr command can be used to display information (with the
-g option, which is the default), to
add ports to APA interfaces (with the
-a option), to clear APA interfaces (with the -d option), to modify
settings (with the
-s option), to rebalance the load among member links in a link aggregate, reset statis-
tics (with the -r option), to obtain the usage information (with the
--cra option), and to diagnose link
connectivity (with the
--diag option).
port_instance refers to physical link PPA; aggregate_instance refers to link aggregate PPA or failover
group PPA.
Operations other than
get require the hpux.network.config
authorization. For more information
about authorizations and Role-based Access Control, see rbac (5).
The settings of the APA interface on the system can be saved to the
/etc/rc.config.d/hp_apaconf
, /etc/rc.config.d/hp_apaportconf
, and
/etc/lanmon/lanconfig.ascii
configuration files so that these settings will take effect across
reboots.
You can obtain output in each case in either human-readable format (which is the default) or in a script-
friendly parse-able format (with the
--sc or --script option).
The format for script-friendly output is described in the nwmgr(1M) manpage. It is guaranteed that any
change in the scriptable output across releases will contain only additions. The existing content will not
be modified or deleted. The content of human-readable format can change across releases though the
changes can be expected to be incremental.
Operations
The
nwmgr command provides the following operations for the APA interface:
-a | --add Creates or adds ports to a MANUAL mode link aggregate or
LAN_MONITOR mode failover group.
--cra Performs Critical Resource Analysis (CRA) on a link aggregate or a fail-
over group.
-d | --delete Clears or deletes some ports from a link aggregate or a failover group.
--diag | --diagnose Diagnoses or tests link connectivity.
The argument currently supported by APA is:
link, which specifies the
connectivity test to be performed for diagnostics.
-g | --get Gets or displays global attributes, or gets or displays the settings of a
physical port, a link aggregate, or a failover group. This is the default
operation if none is specified.
-h | --help Displays help information.
-r | --reset Resets statistics or rebalances the load among member links in a link
aggregate. Also resets the link aggregate itself.
-s | --set Sets global attributes or sets the attributes of a physical port or a link
aggregate.
