NAME

lifrename - rename LIF ﬁles

SYNOPSIS

lifrename oldﬁle newﬁle

DESCRIPTION

oldﬁle is a full LIF ﬁle speciﬁer (see lif (4) for details) for the ﬁle to be renamed (e.g.

liffile:A_FILE

). newﬁle is new name to be given to the ﬁle (only the ﬁle name portion). This opera-

tion does not include copy or delete. Old ﬁle names must match the name of the ﬁle to be renamed, even

if that ﬁle name is not a legal LIF name.

Do not mount the special ﬁle while using

lifrename.

DIAGNOSTICS

lifrename returns zero if the ﬁle name is changed successfully. Otherwise it prints a diagnostic and

returns nonzero.

EXAMPLES

lifrename liffile:A_FILE B_FILE

lifrename /dev/dsk/c0t6d0:ABC CDE
