NAME
lifrename - rename LIF files
SYNOPSIS
lifrename oldfile newfile
DESCRIPTION
oldfile is a full LIF file specifier (see lif (4) for details) for the file to be renamed (e.g.
liffile:A_FILE
). newfile is new name to be given to the file (only the file name portion). This opera-
tion does not include copy or delete. Old file names must match the name of the file to be renamed, even
if that file name is not a legal LIF name.
Do not mount the special file while using
lifrename.
DIAGNOSTICS
lifrename returns zero if the file name is changed successfully. Otherwise it prints a diagnostic and
returns nonzero.
EXAMPLES
lifrename liffile:A_FILE B_FILE
lifrename /dev/dsk/c0t6d0:ABC CDE
