max_physical_extents =
number
Sets the maximum number of physical extents that may be allocated from any of the physical
volumes in the volume group.
max_logical_vols =
number
Sets the maximum number of logical volumes that the volume group is allowed to contain.
max_physical_vols =
number
Sets the maximum number of physical volumes that the volume group is allowed to contain.
physical_extent_size =
number
Sets the number of megabytes in each physical extent, where number may range from 1 through
256.
minor_number = number
Sets the minor number of the volume group control file. Use of this option is cautioned if you do not
fully understand the consequences. The value of number may range from 0 to 255. If this attribute
is set, that number is used. Otherwise if the volume group name is of the form and NN is in range
and not already declared by a
minor_number attribute, the value of NN is used. Otherwise the
first unused value in the acceptable range is used.
version = string
For HP-UX B.11.31 and later clients, this attribute specifies the version of the LVM volume group.
This attribute can be set to either "1.0" or "2.2". If the value of the attribute is "1.0", the volume
group would correspond to LVM version 1.0, and if the value of the attribute is "2.2", the volume
group would correspond to LVM version 2.2. If this attribute is not specified, the default LVM ver-
sion is 1.0.
With the addition of support for LVM 2.2 on B.11.31 in C.7.10, the following attribute may be set for an
LVM 2.2 volume group. See vgcreate (1M) for details.
max_volume_group_size =
number
Sets the maximum size of the volume group, where number may range from 1 through 2147483648
(2048TB or 2PB). This number is assumed to be in units of megabytes if no units are specified.
System Identity and Network Configuration
The configuration file may set attributes that control the default values for system identity and network
configuration. Most of these keywords may have values that are used during the install, and may have
final values that are applied to the system after the installation. This is to support situations when the
client is not being installed on the network of its final destination.
When keywords are not preceded with the
final keyword, the information is used during the installa-
tion, and may also be applied to the final client depending on the boolean value of the
is_net_info_temporary
keyword. If the final keyword is specified, the information is applied to
the final system, and overrides any temporary information that was used during the installation. Note
that
instl_adm may be used to set some of these temporary values with command line options. The
keywords recognized for this are:
[final] system_name = cplx_string
Sets the client’s hostname and uname value to cplx_string .
[final] dhcp_enable = boolean
[final] dhcp_enable[lan_dev] = boolean
When set to true, dhcp_enable will cause the system to be configured to obtain networking
parameters for the specified LAN interface using the DHCP protocol. When set to true, there is no
need to specify other networking parameters (if DHCP supplies them). dhcp_enable is false
by default. The dhcp_enable keyword can be specified for each LAN interface on the system by
using the [lan_dev] syntax. When the lan_dev is not specified, only the default lan interface will
be enabled (or disabled). The disable_dhcp keyword (when set to true) overrides the
dhcp_enable keyword.
[final] ip_addr = cplx_string
[final] ip_addr[lan_dev] = cplx_string
Sets the client’s default IP address to cplx_string . If the IP address is to be used on a specific LAN
device other than the default, lan_dev may be specified within square brackets. lan_dev may be
either a string representing the interface name, "lan0" for example, or it may be the hardware path
to the LAN device, 2/0/2 for example.
