USING HP PRM (PROCESS RESOURCE MANAGER) WITH HP 9000 CONTAINERS
HP-UX Containers and HP 9000 Containers CPU and memory resource allocation can be managed using
HP PRM (included with HP-UX 11i v3 OE).
HP PRM manages the allocation of the following resources:
• CPU: Ensures a minimum allocation of CPU and can can cap the CPU resource usage for each
group in the configuration. You can dedicate processor cores (PSET), or assign Fair Share
Scheduler (FSS) shares of the total CPU to each PRM group.
• Memory: Ensures a minimum allocation of private real memory; and can cap private memory
usage. It also allows allocation of an exact amount of shared memory.
PRM group definitions may be configured manually, or through the HP-UX System Management Home
page or SRP Manager GUI.
Refer to HP PRM and HP-UX Containers documentation to use PRM groups with HP 9000 Containers.
