(HP Integrity Systems only)
Configuring Printers
Save spooler configuration on the HP 9000 server using
lpmgr.
$ mkdir /tmp/lpsave
$ /usr/sam/lbin/lpmgr -S -xsavedir=/tmp/lpsave
Transfer
/tmp/lpsave directory to Integrity server and run:
$ /usr/sam/lbin/lpmgr -R -xsavedir=/tmp/lpsave
For system model, make the printer device visible using:
$ srp -add <srp_name> -tune -device=<device_path>
Configuring Sendmail (Classic Model only)
In the classic model,
sendmail daemon runs on HP-UX 11i v3 host. Copy configuration from HP 9000
system /etc/mail to Integrity /etc/mail.
Configuring Kernel Parameters
Legacy HP-UX environments may not support large values for certain kernel tunable parameters.
$ kctune process_id_max=30000
$ kctune nproc=30000
$ kctune base_pagesize=4
Use hp9000_conf_tunables
tool to discover list of tunable parameters which have higher values on
the HP 9000 server.
Configuring ARIES for More Number of Threads
Increase kernel tunable parameter pa_maxssiz_32bit value.
Create <hp9000_root>
/.ariesrc with
<executable_path>
-mem_tune heap_max
Repeat above steps for 64-bit, if necessary.
Configuring Machine ID Specific Parameters
Certain applications may depend on specific machine id, serial number or other identification informa-
tion. ARIES patch
PHSS_41423 provides several parameters for host id virtualization. Use these param-
eters in the <hp9000_root>
/.aries[64]rc file.
-machine_id
Machine ID to be returned for uname()
-machine_ident
Machine ID to be returned for confstr(_CS_MACHINE_IDENT)
-machine_model
Model to be returned for confstr(_CS_MACHINE_MODEL)
-machine_serial
Serial number to be returned for confstr(_CS_MACHINE_SERIAL)
-partition_ident
Partition ID to be returned for confstr(_CS_PARTITION_IDENT)
NOTE: These options should be used only where legally permitted. For example, if the configuration is
being used to enable re-use of an application license, the respective vendor approval may be required.
MANAGEMENT OF HP 9000 CONTAINERS
Administrator Privileges
By default, the root user on the host is assigned privilege for life cycle management of an HP 9000 con-
tainer. To add a new administrator
$ roleadm add <user-name> SRPadmin-<srp_name>
User Account Management
HP 9000 system container:
User management activities can be performed locally just like on the HP 9000 server. To reset container
root password from global:
