LDAP-UX Integration B.04.20 Release Notes (June 2009)
1 LDAP-UX Integration Overview
The LDAP-UX Integration for HP-UX product uses the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
(LDAP) to centralize HP-UX user, group, and network information management in an LDAP
directory. LDAP-UX Integration enables the LDAP directory to be used as a single source
repository for HP-UX authentication, authorization, user data and account management.
This product consists of two main components:
• The LDAP-UX Client Services enable HP-UX clients to use a centralized LDAP directory
server for unified authentication, access control policy, and name service information. The
pam_authz module, which provides rich access control policy enforcement, and the Mozilla
LDAP C SDK are included in this product.
• The NIS/LDAP Gateway Server is a Network Information Service (NIS) that stores information
using an LDAP directory instead of using NIS maps. If you are migrating from NIS to LDAP,
you can use the NIS/LDAP Gateway to help you phase the transition in a large organization.
The LDAP-UX Integration product does not include an LDAP directory server.
You can obtain the Netscape/Red Hat Directory Server for HP-UX from http://www.hp.com/go/
softwaredepot or from your local HP sales office.
These release notes contain information about LDAP-UX Client Services and NIS/LDAP Gateway
subproducts.
