LDAP-UX Client Services B.05.01 Administrator Guide for HP directory servers and Windows ADS
use the -D option to specify the distinguished name (DN) of the entry being deleted.
You may specify only one of -D, <uid_name> or <group_name> parameters
on the command line.
7.7.1.7 Examining the LDAP-UX configuration
The ldapcfinfo tool provides several capabilities used to report LDAP-UX configuration and
status. When used specifically with the LDAP user and group tools, ldapcfinfo can be used to
discover LDAP-UX configuration details about required attributes when adding new users or groups
to a directory server.
NOTE: The LDAP-UX Client Services provides two user and group default template files to work
with Windows 2003 R2 or 2008 Active Directory Server. If you attempt to use default template
files when using ldapcfinfo to access a Windows ADS, you must manually use the following
commands to relink the default templates to the default templates for the Windows ADS:
• ln -fs /etc/opt/ldapux/ug_templates/ug_passwd_ads.tmpl \
/etc/opt/ldapux/ug_templates/ug_passwd_default.tmpl
• ln -fs /etc/opt/ldapux/ug_templates/ug_group_ads.tmpl \
/etc/opt/ldapux/ug_templates/ug_group_default.tmpl
7.7.1.7.1 Verifying whether LDAP-UX is configured
To verify that the LDAP-UX is properly configured for a specified service, use the ldapcfinfo
-t <type> command. The valid <type> value for HP directory servers can be passwd, group,
netgroup, services, rpc, hosts, networks, automount, NIS-based publickey,
protocols and pam. For Windows ADS, the valid <type> value can be passwd, group,
services, rpc, hosts, networks, protocols and pam. (LDAP-UX using Windows 2003 R2
or 2008 Active Directory Server does not support netgroup and publickey service data.)
The following command example shows how to verify that LDAP-UX is properly configured for the
passwd service:
cd /opt/ldapux/bin
./ldapcfinfo -t passwd
If LDAP-UX is properly configured, the command output would be:
INFO: CFI_CONFIG_SUCCESS:
"passwd" service appears properly configured for LDAP-UX operation
The following command verifies that LDAP-UX is properly configured for the automount service:
./ldapcfinfo -t automount
Assume that the automount service is not configured for LDAP-UX support. The following command
example verifies that LDAP-UX is properly configured for the automount service, followed by the
command output that indicates such support is not configured.
WARNING: CFI_CONFIG_FAILURE:
"automount" service not configured for LDAP-UX support
7.7.1.7.2 Listing available templates
Use the ldapcfinfo -t <type> -L command to display a list of available templates. The
valid <type> value can be passwd or group.
For example, the following command displays a list of available template files that ldapugadd
uses to create a new user entry for the passwd name service:
./ldapcfinfo -t passwd -L
If the /etc/opt/ldapux/ug_templates/ug_passwd_std.tmpl, /etc/opt/ldapux/
ug_templates/ug_passwd_default.tmpl, and /etc/opt/ldapux/ug_templates/
