7 Command and tool reference
This chapter describes the commands and tools associated with the LDAP-UX Client Services.
7.1 The LDAP-UX Client Services components
The LDAP-UX Client Services product, comprising the components listed in Table 7-1, can be
found under /opt/ldapux and /etc/opt/ldapux, except where noted. LDAP-UX Client Services
libraries are listed in Table 7-2 (page 213) and Table 7-3 (page 213).

The LDAP-UX start-up file, specifies where the
directory is, where in the directory the profile data is,
and logging.
/etc/opt/ldapux/ldapux_client.conf
A sample PAM configuration file. The actual PAM
configuration file is /etc/pam.conf.
/etc/pam.ldap
A sample Name Service Switch configuration file. The
actual NSS configuration file is /etc/nsswitch.conf.
/etc/nsswitch.ldap
The configuration profile translated from
ldapux_profile.ldif, in binary format, used by the client.
See also display_profile_cache below.
/etc/opt/ldapux/ldapux_profile.bin
Global Catalog Server (GCS) profile file (LDAP-UX
with Windows AD Server). Specifies which server (and
port) serves as the GCS.
/etc/opt/ldapux/domain_profiles/
ldapux_profile.bin.gc
The configuration profile downloaded from the LDAP
directory, in LDIF format.
/etc/opt/ldapux/ldapux_profile.ldif
Remote domains configuration profile file (LDAP-UX
with Windows AD Server).
/etc/opt/ldapux/domain_profiles
Program to configure LDAP-UX Client services. Will
also automatically configure an HP-UX directory server
instance and create an LDAP-UX domain if one has not
already been set up.
/opt/ldapux/config/autosetup
Program to configure LDAP-UX Client Services./opt/ldapux/config/setup
Program to download a configuration profile from a
directory.
/opt/ldapux/config/get_profile_entry
Program to display the current configuration profile./opt/ldapux/config/display_profile_cache
Program to create a new configuration profile./opt/ldapux/config/create_profile_entry
Programs called by the setup program./opt/ldapux/config/create_profile_schema
/opt/ldapux/config/create_profile_cache
Program to configure and verify the proxy user./opt/ldapux/config/ldap_proxy_config
Tool to report LDAP-UX configuration and status. This
tool can be used to discover LDAP-UX configuration
details about required attributes when creating new
users or groups in an LDAP directory server.
/opt/ldapux/bin/ldapcfinfo
